Internships

Our programs are dynamic, growing and youth centered.

We ask that interns contain a desire to learn, work hard and have a positive attitude.
Growing Gardens’ expectations of intern:

 

  • Personal responsibility

  • Timeliness

  • 24 hour cancellation notice

  • Follow through on accepted tasks

  • Clear, open, honest and kind communication

  • Willingness to do repetitive/contemplative tasks

  • Willingness to do physical work

  • Season long commitment

  • Mature, healthy role modeling in the relationship development with Cultiva! participants

  • Joyful participation in garden activities


 

We have 5 internship opportunities each year. 

Our 2013 internships have been filled. Please check back in the fall for 2014 internships.


Greenhouse and Market Garden Grower

We  have two internship sessions: March 1 – May 31 or March 1 - November 15.

Environmental Education Instructor

We will have three internship sessions: January 15 - November 15, March 1 – November 15 or May 15 – August 15.

Environmental Education Instructor January 15 - November 15

The January - November internship will work extensively with the Community Garden program during the months of January and February. The intern will assist with new garden implementation, garden registration, orientation meetings and gardener education. The intern will also begin work teaching in the Children's Peace Garden and Horticulture Therapy Program during this time. Beginning in March the intern will work more intensively with our Children's Peace Garden, Horticultural Therapy Program and the Cultiva Youth Project. Environmental Education Instructor March 1 - November 15

The March - November internship will work amongst all of our programs; Children's Peace Garden, Horticulture Therapy, Cultiva Youth Project and Community Gardens. Please click on the link above to read the complete internship description.
